
More than 500 Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) from different parts of the province attended Barangay in Cagayan: Healthcare Worker Cancer Awareness Caravan held at People’s Gymnasium, Tuguegarao City.
The activity aims to expand healthcare workers’ knowledge about the disease cancer, including prevention methods, early detection, and proper treatment. It is also part of discussing some misconceptions about disease to correct and clarify them.
Through this, the ability of healthcare workers to provide correct information to their constituencies will also be improved.
Meanwhile, renowned medical oncologists discussed various important topics such as Cancer 101 and Breast Cancer 101, Colorectal Cancer 101, and Cervical Cancer 101, wherein proper screening, symptoms, and steps to prevent the said disease were emphasized.
Such activity was led by the Philippine Society of Medical Oncology (PSMO), partner with the City Health Office (CHO) Tuguegarao, Department of Health (DOH), and Provincial Health Office (PHO) Cagayan.
It was personally attended by Tuguegarao Mayor Maila Ting-Que, Provincial Health Officer of PHO Dr. Rebecca Battung, some staff from PHO, and other DOH and local government officials of the city.
