Alfonso Ponce Enrile Memorial District Hospital, Gonzaga Cagayan received new medical equipment from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Charities-Phils this Thursday, February 27, 2025.
The hospital equipment received include 25 complete hospital bed sets, eight wheelchairs, and an ultrasound machine with a total value of P2 000,000.00.
This donation is part of the organization’s advocacy to provide aid and support to communities particularly in public hospitals to further provide better and effective medical services especially to those who are in need.
This was personally received by the Provincial Government of Cagayan headed by Governor Manuel Mamba, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Rebecca Battung, and the hospital chief Dr. Rowena Martina Sion.
According to Allan Jayson Torres, Administrative Officer of the hospital this is an important step to further expand their medical services.
“They are a big help to our community since the things that used to be used here are most likely unserviceable the others because of course our beds are old too. Especially the ultrasound is really a big help, so we planned to have a technician trained so that when our ultrasound is here our patients will not go far,” said Torres.
It will be noted that one of Gov. Mamba’s top priorities is the improvement of health services in Cagayan, so these donations are an important step in order to provide more effective services to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the hospital also ensured that all the equipment received could be used properly and useful for a long time.
Gonzaga Mayor Marilyn Pentecostes, hospital staff, and members of such organization are also included in the turn-over ceremony.
